Obituary

Jack Kallio
October 3, 1929 to March 14, 2019

Surrounded by loved ones, Jacob Verner Kallio passed away on Thursday, March 14th, 2019 at the Health Sciences North Hospital in Sudbury, Ontario. He was in his 90th year.

Jack is predeceased by his beloved wife Lea Kallio, sister Gail, daughters Susan Bell, Gail Kallio, and Darlene Glenesk; grandsons Erik Bulfon and Kyle O’Quinn. He is survived by children Bonnie (George McNabb), Jack Kallio (Jo-Anne O’Quinn-Kallio), Karen Bulfon; sisters Gloria Pakkala and Carol Tate; his 8 grandchildren: Chad Bruce, Megan Dawson, Anthony and Vanessa Bulfon, Laura Bell, Miranda and Julian Glenesk, and Kaslyn Kallio; 5 great-grandchildren: Brooke, Will and Christopher, Myles and Adriana Dawson; and dear friend Betty Boyce.

To know Jack is to understand the meaning of integrity, commitment and honour. He was the proud patriarch of his Kallio clan and he enjoyed camp life, golfing, curling, fishing, hunting and travelling. Jack was also a Mason, a Shriner, and a pilot. He truly enjoyed his life.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences North.

Jack was an inspiration to us all and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

I first met Jack Sr. and Lea when Jo-Anne (my sister) started dating and married Jack Jr. Over the years we got to know one another. Lea with her cooking and Jack just enjoying. He would quietly sit off to the side watching everyone. Did not have much to say in a crowd, but you would catch him smiling about some antic said or done. If you sat down with him one to one he was full of knowledge, especially Chinese herbs. He always loved to come down to Georgetown, because Jack and Jack could go off golfing a spend quality time together. Gary and I only got to see him on Christmas, Easter holidays and sometimes birthdays but they were good times. We are very sorry and Jack will be missed. Give each other lots of hugs and good memories.
