Obituary for
Amanda Kirsten Mark
In
Loving Memory
of
Amanda Kirsten Mark
Tragically passed away, in her home, during the
early hours of May 3rd, 2018, at the tender age of 20.
Born in North York (Toronto) on July 14, 1997, Amanda is survived by her devoted mother, Carrie Alexander (nee Kruithof), big sister, Crystal Kruithof, residing in Ottawa, and twin brother Andrew Mark (Keera Ross); her "Opa", Hans Kruithof (Cheryl, predeceased, 2011), "Unkie" Hans Kruithof (Paula) of Innisfil; great aunt Fay Mattson (Jack) and great uncles John and Gary Ahonen, all of Sudbury.
She is also survived by grandmother, Lynthia Charles of Toronto, her father, Andy Mark and many relatives in Grenada, West Indies; great uncles John Kruithof (Kawsar) of Ottawa, Garry Kruithof (Dianne) of Larder Lake, Harry Kruithof (Nina) and great aunts Lena Van Ballegooie (Art, predeceased) of Cochrane, and Cora Brown of Kapuskasing. Best friend and roommate to Gab Potvin.
Although Amanda had been living with mental health issues since her early teens, she was just beginning to flourish. Amanda loved her job at Sally Beauty, her manager (Louise) and her colleagues. Amanda also appreciated the help she received from YMCA Employment Services, especially Barbara Conlon-McGillis, in helping secure this and other work experiences.
Amanda was a compassionate, non-judgmental, young lady who left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. On many occasions, she provided food and lodging for friends in need. Amanda had a way of making others feel better about themselves. She loved dogs, especially her "son" Kobe, listening to music (loudly) and enjoyed dancing. She had an infectious laugh and kept everyone around her smiling. Amanda also liked to change her look from time to time and was simply beautiful inside and out.
Our world has become much darker since her light went out.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home (233 Larch Street, Sudbury) Friday, May 11th, 2018 from 6-8pm only with words of remembrance at 7:30pm. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
In lieu of flowers, donations the Sudbury/Manitoulin Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) would be most appreciated.
