In Loving Memory of
Matthew Richard Clayton McGrath
52 years
Monday June 8th, 2020 at West Nipissing General Hospital

Beloved and cherished husband of Natalie (Morin) McGrath. Loving father of the miracles of his life, Meredith and Miriam. Proud loved son of John (predeceased January 31st, 2020) and Roberta (Bugg) McGrath. Cherished brother of Roxanne (John Tulloch predeceased) and Tracy (Gord Holmes) and niece Grace. Son-in-law to Richard and Leslie Morin. Brother-in-law to Andrea (Rob) with nephews Evan and Julian, Wendy (David) with niece Artemise and nephew Abraham.

Matt was a hardworking, strong-willed man, who lived his values every day. Never shy to share his opinions, he always stood up for his beliefs. He will be lovingly remembered for his strong voice, smile, and wonderful laugh. Everyone felt his voice and presence when he entered a room and he was loved immensely for that. Matt was devoted to his dogs and had a phenomenal love for them. He ran his beef farm like no other with passion, dedication, and knowledge. He was a dedicated family man. The miracle of his life was his two beautiful daughters who he taught well, and will continue his legacy and passion on the farm.

Matt loved the Lord and because of his trust in Christ’s complete work at the cross, we are confident he is at home with the Lord.

At Matt’s request, a private family service has been held at the Waters Cemetery. Donations to Gideon Bibles would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home,

Private Condolence

Roberta and family I send condolences on behalf of Morley and Ruby as well as myself. I looked for your address to send a card when Jack passed away, but never got beyond a Canada 411. I am shocked into action at the news of the passing of your son. At very least I can write here.
Dad was so touched that he was bound and determined that he would go to Sudbury even if all he could do was stand on the sidewalk. He wanted you to know how special your parents and family are to them. Not being able to do the things that they want to do is frustrating beyond words. It really took some persuading to convince him that it was not possible (already after the fact). I trust you have a great circle of support even in these pandemic days. Mom says you have a daughter that lives here in Barrie. If you ever come this way, Mom and Dad would love to see you. We live right at the Duckworth exit. So you will continue to be in our thoughts as you adjust to life without Matt in your day to day. You will carry him always in your heart.

Dear Natalie, Meredith and Miriam,
So very sorry to hear of Matt's passing. We attended college together at NLCAT. I'll always remember Matt for his contagious laughter, his smile, and his warm and friendly nature. Matt was everyone's friend. I remember his passion for farming and for his Chesapeake Bay's which he swore were the best dogs out there! I hope you can take comfort in all the fond memories you have of Matt.

Rob " Alien" van der Ploeg,

Natalie, Meredith and Miriam,

from The Netherlands I wish to express my deepest condolences to you for the loss of Matt. I also went to NLCAT with him and during those two years, 1987 and 1988, known him as a silent but clearly present individual. Always in for a joke and never refusing his help when asked. All I can say and hope for is that you will get through the troubling times ahead with the courage I know your your husband and father had.

Natalie, Meredith, & Miriam,

I am sorry to hear of Matt's passing. I went to NLCAT with Matt. His room was next door to mine in Residence. I can't imagine what those 2 years in New Liskeard would of been like without him. He will be missed.

Natalie, Meredith and Miriam - we will always remember Matt for his sense of humour as he was always able to make us laugh. He was also amazing at giving the people and dogs closest to him the best nicknames :) We are thinking about you all at this time. May your hearts find peace. ~ Wendy, David, Artemise and Abraham xoxo
