In Loving Memory of Sebastiano “Roma” Cerilli 87 years
Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury.

Beloved husband of 59 years to Rosa (Tucci) Cerilli. Loving father of Pio (Rosaria) and Aldo (Disma). Cherished grandfather of Julia, Vanessa and Massimo. Dear son of Erminio and Anna Cerilli both predeceased. Dear brother of Francesca predeceased, Maria predeceased (Ernesto predeceased), Riziero predeceased (Ilde of Sudbury), Arcangelo (Giovanna predeceased) of Italy, Adelma (Mario Valentani) of Toronto and Gabriella (Domenico Deninno predeceased) of Sudbury. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Born in Supino, Frosinone (Italy) in 1929, leaving there in 1952 to create a new life for his himself and his future family. Married Rosa in Supino in 1957 and returning to Sudbury where they started their new life together that lasted 59 years. A true pioneer, someone that has endured much hardship, as with many of his fellow countrymen & women, leaving their homeland and creating a new one in a prosperous & rich country such as ours, although never losing their heritage and showing the family what that was like.

He worked for many years as a skilled mason having had part in the construction of many local buildings, worked for many years during shutdowns at different plants both here in Sudbury and out of town locations. Having also constructed two homes in the West End for his family, showing what people can do with their hands if they so choose, nicknamed "Roma" by his peers because he came from a place close to Rome “vicino Roma".

An avid gardener, reaping the rewards of his labour with an abundance of vegetables every year (of course, under the direction of Rosa!), enjoyed fishing and enjoyed making wine to which he took great pleasure in making, whistling and singing Italian songs all in doing so. He enjoyed family dinners, family picnics and just any opportunity for social gatherings, to eat, drink, and be merry and to be in the company of all his family members.

Sebastiano was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish and a Life Member of the Caruso Club, where he enjoyed playing cards for many years.

We will all miss you, and look forward to seeing you again. Go in peace Sebastiano Cerilli – brother, husband, father and grandfather, you will live on in all of us.

Entombment in the Park Lawn Mausoleum.
