Click here to view all obituariesI remember this like it was yesterday and you really disliked how I remembered it but you smiled when I reminded you when we were alone... I was a young 28 years old and you were 43, I had met you at the Vous, I was with out good friend Stan (another beautiful soul who left us not long after)... We sat down and ordered a beer and you came over to the table after consuming 1/2 bottle of rum I'm sure and it was the weekend before the May run... You started complaining to Stan how the Ojibwe's are allowed to fish during off season and catch all the dam fish before you white guys can!!! Stan was sitting there smiling and so was I as you ranted about this, finally Stan said "Dan, let me introduce you to my good friend Cheryl Naveau"... Your eyes looked shocked and you said "Naveau??? Like Mattagami First Nation Naveau???" I reached and shook your hand and said nice to meet you, by this time Stan can barely contain himself... You held onto my hand and said "you want to go fishing??" ..... You showed up at my door the next Saturday and you were so handsome, you had this white collared shirt on, a ball cap, sunglasses and a pair of cutoff jeans and I looked down and you had on these really white tube socks that reached your knees which was something I had never seen before but didn't say anything and we went fishing all day, your mom packed a picnic lunch for us and we enjoyed the day... This was our first date that lasted for over 15 years and I wouldn't change a moment of those years EXCEPT, I wish I would have taken a picture of you in those tube socks... I love you Dan and I miss you terribly, I have our memories and you know what hunny? That is what keeps me going xx
