Obituary for Jouko "Jack" Mathias Takamaa

In loving memory of Jouko “Jack” Mathias Takamaa, who passed away peacefully at Health Sciences
North Sunday October 15, 2023; with his loving daughter by his side, at the age of 88.
After a career at Falconbridge mine, Jouko enjoyed many, many, many years of retirement. Spending
time at Hanna Lake Bible Camp, singing in the Choir at St. Matthews Lutheran Church (Now New Hope
Lutheran Church), serving on the Board of Directors at Finlandia Village, and various other interests kept
him busy. Jouko was very involved in the Finnish Community in Sudbury, was always willing to lend a
helping hand and lit up a room with his smile and infectious laugh. Beloved husband of Anne Takamaa
(predeceased), Loving father of Diana Smith (predeceased), Mikael Takamaa (Kathryn), and Maria
Chalker (Jim). Cherished Grandpaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa to Elisha Takamaa, Michael Takamaa, Derek Smith,
James Chalker, Sarah Chalker (Jeremy), and Vincent Takamaa. Dear great grandfather (Pa-pa-pa) to
Damina, Joshua, Aiden, Allison, Alaina, Silas, and Logan. Wonderful friend to many.
Peace is yours, and sweet remembrance is ours.

Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. (Friends may call after 10am Friday). Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 12noon. Interment in the family plot at the Civic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Finlandia SISU Foundation or New Hope Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
