Obituary for Josephine Angela "Josie" Vrbanac (Felicioni)

Josephine (Josie) Angela Vrbanac (nee Felicioni)

September 11, 1933 - May 22, 2023

Josie, predeceased by her husband of 61 years Nick (2019) and her siblings Beppi, Squink, Rose, Frank, Mary and Eva, passed the generational torch to her sons Stephen (Tina) and Paul (Meredith), her grandchildren Nick (Amanda), Heather (Dan), Mirjana (Simeon), Allison (Anthony), Matthew (Courtney) and Daniel, and her great grandchildren John, Isla and Thomas, as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Sudbury, Josie grew up and started her life with Nick in the West End and later moved to Southview Drive where she was longtime member of St. Patrick’s Parish and its CWL. Josie’s family was the most important thing to her, making sure a card was in the mail for a birthday or special event and ensuring the house was spotless, ready to welcome, and feed, family and friends who would regularly stop by. After working for a number of years at the Pine Street AandP grocery store, Josie spent her later years enjoying her time with her grandchildren, and regularly walking the Robinson neighbourhood with her canine friend Miko. Josie will be deeply missed by her family, her life- long friends especially, Joan and Lily, as well as the new friends she made among the staff and companions at the Colonel By Retirement residence in Ottawa, her home for the past year and a half. A special thanks to the nurses and PSW staff at Colonel By who made her final days peaceful.

Josie’s family will celebrate her life on Tuesday May 30, 2023, from 3:00PM to 7:00PM at Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent Street at Hazel Street, Sudbury. Her funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick Church on Wednesday May 31, 2023, at 10:30 AM.

Donations to either the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, or the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County are appreciated.

She was trapped but now she’s free.
