It is with sadness that the family announce the passing of Jorma “Tapani” Pilbacka, 75 years, who passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Health Sciences North with family at his side. Beloved husband of Aila (nee Pyykko) Pilbacka. Loving father of Marja Gravel (Rick), Satu Pilbacka and Miia Flintoff (Spenser). Cherished grandfather of Nathan Gravel, Owen Pilbacka, Sebastian Flintoff, and Olivia Flintoff. Dear son of Reino and Siiri (Alanen) Pilbacka both predeceased. Dear brother of Sisko Lamminen (Erkki), Ritva Jansson (Kjell), Hannu Pilbacka (Marja-Terttu) and predeceased by Jaakko, Tapio and Irja. Sadly missed by numerous relatives, friends, and friends that became like family. Tapani had a love for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He was always tinkering around. Tapani was an amazing man. He was strong, supportive, thoughtful, and friendly. He loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, starting at 12noon followed by a service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel at 2pm.
