Obituary for Joseph Clarence "Joe" Endanawas

In loving memory of Joseph “Joe” Clarence Endanawas

November 27, 1944 - March 25, 2023

Joe passed away at his home in Sudbury, ON. Joe leaves behind his beloved wife Maryann along with his two sons and daughter, Christopher, Joshua and Jackie (Shane). His best loved service dog “Bungii”. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Riley (Amanda) Christina, Katrina (Dakota), and 2 great grandchildren Anubus and Lucas.

Joe is pre-deceased by his parents Adam and Clara Endanawas, and siblings Jonas, Helen, Evelyn, Lillian Clement, David, Frances. He will be greatly missed by his remaining sisters Marty (Jim), Christine (Barry) and Cecilia pre-deceased.

Joe leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends along with his favourite nephew Francis (Keri) with whom he spent a lot of time with and watched many Leafs games.

Joe loved the outdoors and would always help his dad as he grew up. He had a varied career that ranged from forestry, manufacturing to serving in the US Army. He also thoroughly enjoyed working for the various indigenous government agencies like UCCM, Sheshegwaning First Nation, and Anishinabek Nation. He also was a respected elder, language and knowledge keeper. Many will miss his presence at various functions and pow wows.

Funeral Service at the Sheshegwanning Community Centre, Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 11am. Interment in the Sheshegwanning Cemetery. Friends may call at the Community Centre after 5pm Tuesday.
