Obituary for George Sauve

George Francis Sauvé
November 23, 1933 - March 16, 2023

It is with deepest sorrow that the family announces George’s peaceful passing on March 16, 2023, with family by his side. George was 89 years old.

Born in Parry Sound, Ontario, to Annie (nee Corriveau) and Joseph Hercule Sauvé of Simcoe County (both predeceased). George moved to Capreol, Ontario in 1949, where he later met and married the love of his life, Patricia (nee Ladouceur) in 1961. Devoted to his family, George was a loving father to David (Lynn), and Debra (Gary), and cherished grandfather to Shannon, Rhys, and Eva. He was also survived by his sisters Theresa (Gorman) and Jeannette (Carty), and predeceased by his brothers Eugene and Gerrard, and sisters Helen (Farrant) and Blanche.

George worked for the Canadian National Railway for 39 years. After retiring in 1990, you could often find him drinking coffee with Pat on their front porch, or tending to his flower gardens. An avid sportsman, George loved to fish, and spent many hours sharing fishing stories with friends at the local coffee shops. His gentle nature, mischievous smile, and ready laugh will be terribly missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Health Sciences North Hospital for the care he received in his final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Northern Cancer Foundation, would be greatly appreciated.
