Obituary for William "Cam" Cottrell

William Cameron Cottrell
1966 to 2023

It is with profound sadness that the family of Cam Cottrell announce his unexpected passing at the age of 56. The son of the late William Cottrell and Carole Rogers (Bill). He leaves behind his cherished spouse and best friend Eleanor (Ellie) Rabb, and their beloved fur baby, Ruby. His pride and utmost joy, his daughter Lauren Cottrell, his remarkable son-in-law Neil Petrin, as well as his precious grandson George. Also father to Julia Cottrell. Dear little brother to Angie Adcock and husband Paul; Michelle Cloutier and husband Stéphane, and big uncle to their children Brittany (Taylor), Emily (DJ), Mélanie and Samuel, and great uncle to Lennon. Special son-in-law to Ginette and the late Robert Rabb.

Cam was remarkable during his career as an insurance adjuster which included an extended period as the control adjuster for the City of Greater Sudbury, resolving Municipal claims for over 30 years.

Not only a prominent businessman, Cam was an accomplished angler, hunter, baseball player, golfer, and could fix almost anything.

Cam’s stature was grand and so was his heart. He could befriend anyone and if someone needed something they knew they could always call Cam.

If you asked Cam how he was his response would always be ‘I’m awesome’, and that he was, still is and will always be.

In lieu of flowers a trust has been set up for Cam’s grandson, George, for his future academic and sporting activities. Donations will be collected at Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home and can also be contributed online at: Alternatively, they can be made to George Petrin at any Royal Bank Branch.

Visitations for family, friends and colleagues will be held Friday March 17th, from 2-4PM and 6-8PM. Celebration of Life will be on Saturday March 18th at 2PM, all to take place at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
