In loving memory of Theresa “Terry” (Desjardins) Vance, 99 years, (born January 5, 1924)with her loving daughter Brenda by her side she left this world peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2023 at St. Gabriel’s Villa. I will miss our weekly chat sessions and think of you every Sunday 11 am. It’s time to rest with Dad and all the family that left before you.
Beloved wife of Ken Vance, predeceased. Loving mother of Alan (Adrian, predeceased), Fred (Debbie) and Brenda (husband Merv Holowanky). Cherished grandmother of Marc, Daren (predeceased), Jeffrey, Russell, Heather, Jennifer, Suzanne, Steven and many great and great great grandchildren. Dear daughter of Lionel and Elizabeth Desjardins, both predeceased. Dear sister of Laurentia, Roland, George, Georgette, Leo, Gerald and Jeanette, all predeceased.
She led an amazing long life filled with a hard work ethic. She provided many cherished family heirlooms from her sewing, embroidery, knitting, quilting, crocheting. Skills. Her hands were never idle. Her playful side came out when her grandchildren visited and it turns out she was hard to beat at card games and rummi-cub. Lets not forget the family reunions held at the family camp at Trout Lake on a nice August long weekend.
In her 99 years she has been through world events during every decade and too numerous to mention here. The largest during her time at St. Gabriel being Covid 19. She told us she tested positive for this virus with no symptoms as she was well vaccinated and just had plain strong genes.
At Terry’s request there will be cremation. A celebration of life will be held at Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 12-2pm.
We would like to express our heartfelt thank you to all her caregivers & staff at St. Gabriel’s Villa and also to her newfound best friend Jean, who encouraged Mom to happily enjoy each day by going outdoors and to participate in the many recreational activities offered.
Donations to the St. Joseph’s Foundation would be much appreciated.
