On Monday March 6, 2023, our father Giovanni Molino peacefully left us not to mourn his death but to celebrate a life well lived. Born in Colloredo di Monte Albano, Udine, Italy Sept 30, 1932, he was the youngest of seven children (Delmo, Tobia, Dino, Maria, Giustina & Elda) all predeceased. At the age of 21 he decided to follow his sister Elda to Sudbury and worked as a mason. Five years later he travelled back to Italy to marry Anna Desio (predeceased 2017). Together they returned to Sudbury where they raised two daughters Manuela Penny (Edward) and Sandra Petryna (David). Proud Nonno of Andrea Penny (Greg Lakanen), Laura Clarke (Brad), Michael Penny, Elissa Petryna (Marckly Mathurin) and Nicholas Petryna. He was a VERY proud bisnonno to Alyivia & Poppy. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews both in Canada and Italy.
Over his career he worked on many buildings and homes in Sudbury and area. He proudly bragged that his fingerprints could be found on almost every building in the city. He loved to garden, make wine and tinker in his basement and outdoors ready to “Macgyver” and repurpose items for his use. He loved to recount stories of past adventures, ready to make friends and family laugh while serving espresso and of course a bit of grappa or wine. He was forever proud of his beloved Friul and was able to return to visit family and friends over the years. We were very fortunate to have our father, nonno and bisnonno all these years. Mandi Giovanin.
Donations in his memory may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Maison McCulloch Hospice. Memorial Prayers in the R.J. Barnard Chapel at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11am with a reception to follow in the fellowship room to celebrate his life.
