Obituary for Wilfred "Wilf" Frank Zimmer

It is with great sorrow that the family of Wilfred (Wilf) Frank Zimmer of Sudbury, Ontario announces his passing on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023, one month away from his 95th birthday. Wilf was born in Bruno, Sask. to his parents Elizabeth and Joseph Zimmer (predeceased). He was brother to Roman, Herman, Mary, and Sylvia (all predeceased).
It was there, at a very, very young age, he fell in love with his beautiful little Katie. When he was 12 his family moved on to Kenora, Ont. As the years past Wilf and Kay kept in touch. Eventually her engagement ring found its way from Kenora to her finger via Canada Post which was the start of their 73 years of marriage. She joined him in Kenora and had two of their six children before settling in Sudbury, Ont. He was the loving father of Audrey Milne(predeceased), Maryann Lepage (Rick), Cathy Bona (Brian), Cecil Zimmer (Wanda), Sharon Zanini (George) and Michael Zimmer (JoAnn). He was the proud Papa of his 12 grandchildren, Shawna, Cindy (predeceased), Brad, Melissa, Darren, Amanda, Jacob, Matthew, Andrea, Emily, Scott, and Jonathan, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Wilf lived his life always putting his family’s needs before his own. Wilf was a jack of all trades, and shared his expertise with all who were willing to learn. He built his own dream home and with some assistance spent his final days there. He took great pride in his home, and when you turned the corner on Raymond Street, his gorgeous flowers were the first thing that caught your eye. You would often find him sitting around the kitchen table having a competitive game of Bertha. He liked to win. He had a passion for fishing, loved to spend hours on the water. He took great pride in his garden, worked very hard just to share it with everyone. The door was always open, he would welcome you with open arms, a cup of coffee, always had treats for the little ones and if you were lucky you could listen to live entertainment. He loved his old country music, the sadder the better.
He will dearly missed by all and remembered by his saying, “And you turn around”.
