Obituary for Marie Persechino (Renzini)

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving mother, Nonna, and dear friend, on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023. Marie (Renzini) Persechino passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 84. She is survived by her children: Marianne Ireland (Dave), Carol Langen (Ken), Marlina, Lisa, and Michael. She will be missed dearly by her grandchildren: Tamara (Maurice), Blair (Megan), Jacqueline (Jason), Bianca (Kyle), Christine, Jens, Andrew, and Nicholas; and her great granddaughters, Emma, and Riley. Marie was a beloved daughter of Joseph and Ida Renzini (predeceased) and devoted sister to Patricia Bortolotto (Sebastian predeceased) and Ronald Renzini (Olga). She will be forever remembered by all her nieces, nephews, and friends.

Marie was a gentle soul who was warm and welcoming to everyone around her. She was best known for her outgoing personality and had a smile that could light up the whole room. You could always count on her to cheer you up with her animated and vibrant personality. Marie was very nurturing and was able to help anyone through a difficult time by providing words of wisdom and encouragement. She had such a positive energy and was always smiling or laughing… and oh her laugh- how contagious it was, you couldn’t help but join in! She was so incredibly forgiving (almost to a fault) and she always saw the good and assumed the best of everyone. She was a proud Christian and genuinely cared deeply about people. It wasn’t uncommon to see her laughing and talking on the phone for hours on end with her friends and family. She was easily fooled by her grandchildren, and they loved watching her funny reactions. Her grandchildren took great pleasure in pranking her, making Tik Tok videos of her, and throwing dance parties with her. Marie enjoyed it just as much as they did. Aside from her outstanding personality, Marie was also known for her homemade Italian dinners, delicious butter tarts and blueberry pies from wild blueberries just picked from her husband.

Marie was fortunate enough to live in her house until her final days. Every morning, she would enjoy a coffee in her “Queen of Everything” mug. She enjoyed watching her soap operas and binge watching Netflix series on her flat screen TV. She was an avid reader, easily reading 2-3 books a week. She had the sleep schedule of a seventeen-year-old, going to bed in the wee hours and sleeping in as long as she could.

Lastly, Marie loved her family very much. She enjoyed sitting on her patio reminiscing about the old times with her sister and brother. Marie was able to witness her grand-children’s milestones and was proud of all of them. She had a wonderful visit with her grand-daughter (Tamara) and great-grandchildren (Emma and Riley) this past summer. She was honored to have witnessed two of her grandchildren (Tamara and Blair) each get married. She was happy to celebrate Jacqueline’s engagement and Bianca graduating from Medical School. She will forever be grateful for the help of Lisa, Marianne, Marlina, and Andrew for helping her stay in her house.

Our family would like to thank her PSWs (especially Karen), as well as staff at HSN for their kindness and care during this difficult time.

There will be no visitation or funeral. A private family burial at the Civic Cemetery will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sudbury Food Bank would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home. “May God bless you and keep you in his tender loving care always and forever”. We miss and love you, but know you are in heaven watching over all of us.
