Obituary for Filippo Nero

Filippo Nero, “Fil”, suddenly passed away on Sunday January 22nd at the age of 54. Fil was born June 12th 1968, the youngest of 6 siblings. He will be sadly missed by his entire family and friends. Fil is survived by his siblings, Nicola (Linda), Giuseppe (Caterina), Antonio (Gianna), Rosa (Pino). His nieces and nephews; Raffaella (Pietro), Emanuele (Isa), Lorenzo, Christian (Genevieve), Mauro (Sarah), Chiara (Philip), Nicola (Lindsay), Guerino (Hailey), Annita (Hugh), Rosaria, Amanda (Aaron), Cory (Gillian), Michela and many great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother Annita and father Guerino, and his brother Frank (Agostino) (Rachelle). He will be sadly missed by his beloved pet, Pirlo. Fil was born in Lamezia Terma, Italy and moved to Canada at the age of 9 joining the rest of his family. He welcomed visitors daily at his home, ‘Cafe Nero’. Fil was an avid soccer fan and carried out his Italian traditions of making wine, homemade salami and tomato sauce.
Resting at the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. (Friends may call 2-4; 6-8 PM Friday) with parish prayers at 3pm.
Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Rd., Sudbury, Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10:30AM.
Cremation with entombment at Civic Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations to Diabetes Canada or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
