Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Joan Leschishin (Clarke)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Betty” Joan Leschishin (nee Clarke) 77 years, on the morning of Wednesday, January 11th, 2023 at the Maison McCulloch Hospice.

Beloved wife of 57 years to Danny Leschishin. Loving mother of Donna Puro (Greg) and Tina Lewis (Keith). Cherished grandmother to her 4 grandchildren Alysha Poulin (Georges), Dalyn, Brayden (Katie), and Carlyn (Carter). Predeceased by her parents Angus and Dorothy Clarke (nee Wright). Left to mourn her passing are her 2 sisters Bonnie Jeanveau and Barbara Hart, and sisters-in-law Lily Forteski (Jim) and Linda Thompson (Frank). She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Betty grew up in Burwash and attended and graduated from the RNA program as a Registered Nurses Assistant and worked at the Memorial Hospital until 1966 when her and Danny started their family. Betty has fought a long battle after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at a young age. As her MS progressed, she faced her daily challenges with such dignity. Throughout her fight, she always stayed positive and always graced anyone with her beautiful smile and heart of gold.

We would like to express our gratitude and many thanks to so many caregivers over the years that have helped her with her care. A special thank you to Dr. Mongeon, Dr. Josee Michaud and the 8th Floor North Tower Nurses and PSW’s at HSN during this last stay. Also, thank you to the amazing staff at the Maison McCulloch Hospice for their care and compassion during her short time there.

Funeral service will be held in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at 4pm. Friends may gather at the funeral home for a visitation on Saturday after 2pm. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium with interment in the Maplecrest Cemetery in Dowling at a later date. Donations to the M.S Society – Sudbury Chapter or the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated by the family. For donations or messages of condolence www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.
