Obituary for Spencer Rooney

ROONEY, Spencer Joseph

On Saturday, December 24th, Spencer Joseph Rooney, a beloved father and husband, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was eighty-three. He was born to Knowlton Rooney and Greta (née Kennedy) Rooney in Douglastown (Gaspé, Québèc). Spencer is survived by the love of his life, Patricia (née Willett) Rooney, for whom he shared 61 years of marriage. His sons, Todd and Ted Rooney, and his grandchildren, Chelsey, Kennedy, and Gage Rooney. He was a cherished brother to Beverly, Chester, Clarice, Sandra, June, and Donald. He will also be missed by his several nieces and nephews.

He worked as a motor rewinder at the Divisional Shops at INCO for 31 years before retiring. He will also be remembered for his interest in playing and watching curling. He was a big fan of the Montreal Alouettes.

As per his wishes, there will be no service or visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to the Vermillion wing of St. Gabriel’s Villa in Sudbury. We’d like to thank the staff who tended to his care at the end of his life; their patience, empathy, and kindness were invaluable.

Arrangements entrusted to the Park Lawn Crematorium. No donations requested.
