Obituary for Bonnie Jean Marie Caldwell (Ouellette)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bonnie Caldwell (née Ouellette) on December 20, 2022, at the age of 67. Beloved wife of 45 years to George Caldwell. Loving mother to Lana Benoit (Marty) and Jeff Caldwell (Jill). Daughter of the late Joseph and late Dorothy Ouellette (née Whalen). Dear sister of Sharon Palmquist (Ralph), Richard Ouellette (Tina), Holly Gagnon (Bernie), and Tammy MacGregor (Marvin). Cherished grandmother of Maya, Katie, and Sara Benoit and James Caldwell. She will be sadly missed by her sister in-laws, brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Bonnie was a kind, gentle, caring, and selfless person who was loved by so many. She had the biggest heart and was always looking out for other people. She inspired so many people with her strength and positive outlook during her courageous battle with cancer. As Bonnie’s oncologist once said, “she was the toughest person he had ever met.”
Bonnie never passed up an opportunity to go on an adventure, whether it be traveling to a new location, visiting a new lighthouse, or partaking in the local theatre scene. She was a music lover and a true fan of Elvis. She was an amazing grandmother who adored her grandchildren and spent as much time as she could with them.
Bonnie loved the outdoors whether it be hiking, kayaking, golfing, swimming, or feeding chickadees. On days when the weather did not cooperate, she enjoyed baking with the grandkids, painting, quilting, doing puzzles, cross-stitching, and watching The Young and the Restless while enjoying a London Fog tea or the occasional spiced rum. She loved spending the winter months in Florida, where she enjoyed beautiful sunsets, roseate and dolphin watching, dinners at the Starfish Grill, and adventures with George.
Many thanks go out to her amazing medical teams at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto General Hospital, and HSN/Northeast Cancer Centre. Special thanks to Dr. Sam Saibil and staff, who provided outstanding care throughout her cancer journey.
Her legacy of love, kindness, strength, and devotion to her family will live on in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (https://supportthepmcf.ca/PDPMemorial/BonnieCaldwellInMemoriam).
