Obituary for Eino Jokela (Jokela)

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Isa (dad) and Pappa. He passed away on Tuesday morning, December 20th, 2022.

He was born in Toholampi, Finland in 1933. His parents were Oiva and Mirja Jokela both predeceased. Dear brother of 7 sisters and 1 brother all predeceased. Predeceased by his wife Aune (nee Hyvarinen) to whom he was married to for over 60 years. He leaves behind his daughter, Marlene Doniec (Gregg) and two sons Ken Jokela (Wendy) and Danny Jokela (Leanna) all of Sudbury. Loving Pappa to Russell, Kyle (Olivia and children Abygail and Graycie), Kelsi-Bri and Leisha (Phil). He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Our Isa immigrated to Canada in 1954 and our Aiti (mom) joined him in 1956. They started a new chapter in their life here in Canada. Soon after, he went into the mining industry. mHe had a very successful career at Falconbridge (Glencore). Isa retired in 1993. Once retired, he was able to spend more time with his children and grandchildren. Many great memories together were spent at the family camp on Lake Penage. They would enjoy swimming, fishing, boating, canoeing and of course the hot sauna. He was an avid outdoorsman as a hunter and he especially loved fishing. He taught his grandkids how to fish and they all loved spending time with him. He was known for his smoked fish which he made in his homemade smoker. Our dad also had a love for music. He was a self-taught accordion player. He was also a singer in the Sudbury Finnish Male Choir for 39 years. He loved every minute of it. He truly enjoyed his life, family and had many good friends.

We sincerely appreciate all the efforts of the staff, doctors, nurses and psws that took care of our precious dad for many years. They are a very caring group.

There will be no visitation or service. The family will be having a private gathering. Donations to Finlandia SISU would be appreciated. Arrangements are entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home. For donations or messages of condolence www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.
