Obituary for Ernest Walter Walchuk

On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, Ernest Walter Walchuk passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 78 years. Ernie was a detective sergeant with the Lindsay Police Service for more than 25 years. On retirement moved back to Sudbury and began a new career at Cambrian College as an instructor and co-ordinator of the Police Foundations Program. He retired from Cambrian College after 14 years. Ernie and Donna met in 1970 and married on February 23, 1973. He was a most caring husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Donna and proud father of sons Kevin and Matthew and six extraordinary grandchildren John, Sam, Sasha, Caitlin, Elizabeth, and William will miss their grandfather. Ernie was very fond of his two daughters-in-law Amanda and Jessica. Ernie loved woodworking and fishing and reluctantly helping his wife with gardening. He was very fond of leaving his yard to visit with the neighbors. Ernie was a man who truly liked people. Dear son of Walter and Ella Walchuk both predeceased. Dear brother of Betty Labillois, Patricia Dionne (husband Gerald) and Edith Somerton (husband William) both predeceased. Sadly missed by nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated. Memorial Visitation at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Sunday, October 23, 2022, from 2-4pm. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
