Obituary for Joseph "Joe" Steve Sintic

In loving memory of Joseph Sintic 82 years who passed away suddenly at Health Sciences North on Monday, September 12, 2022, with loving family members by his side. Loving husband of Claudia (nee Rowe) for 58 years. Loving father of Craig (Rachelle) and Todd (Thairn). Cherished Geda of Lauren, Matthew, Jacob and Maija. Dear son of Joseph and Dragica (both predeceased). Brother of Mary (Rico) (both predeceased). Fondly remembered by his sisters in law, Margie VanExan and Danna Farrows and many nieces and nephews. Joe was a long-time educator working in education for 33 years. He began his teaching career in Eganville in the Ottawa Valley before moving to Sturgeon Falls and finally Sudbury. During his time in Sudbury, he taught at Chelmsford Valley and then spent 28 years as the Head of Guidance at Sudbury Secondary School. In this role he impacted the lives of thousands of students while forging many dear friendships along the way. While working at Sudbury Secondary School he was instrumental in the creation of the Performing Arts Program. During his retirement he enjoyed wintering in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. His hobbies included landscaping, playing Bocce, golf, parging and spending time with family and his countless friends. Known for his ability to socialize he was never shy to stop in on his way by for a quick drink and conversation. In addition to his many hobbies, he was a valued member of the community. An active member of the Rotary Club of Sudbury, volunteer at the Cancer Centre for many years and most recently a volunteer at the Elgin Street Mission. The family would like to thank Dr. Singh, Dr. Kiwan, Dr. McIsaac, Dr. Anderson, the emergency room staff and the exemplary ICU staff that worked so diligently to ensure the comfort of Joe before his peaceful passing.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 336 Falconbridge, 66 Edison Rd., Falconbridge. Friends may gather after 12:30pm Sunday, September 18, 2022, with words of remembrance at 1pm followed by a reception. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
