Obituary for Steven Joey Dupuis

Steven Joey Dupuis, AKA Dups, AKA Super Dad, AKA die-hard Metal Head, passed away peacefully with his adoring family by his side on Saturday, August 6th, 2022 at the age of 53 years young.
His departure was just in time for him to make his spiritual appearance at every Montreal Canadians exhibition and regular season game where he will be swearing profanities at the refs while enjoying a Molson Canadian.
Steve is survived by the loves of his life – his son Wesley-whom he was so damn proud of and had an unwavering bond with and love for, and his ‘sunshine’ Sydney- whom he was in awe of as he relished her sassiness, smarts and affection; his wife Jo-Anne (he was forever grateful for the life they made and shared and for her selfless care for him and dedication to him throughout their 35 years together) and his gentle, kind hearted mother, Teri (An amazing parent to have raised a feisty, brilliant and curious soul), and baby brother Mark (Geraldine). He is reunited with his loving father Andre (predeceased in 2013) and they are now together peacefully fishing, joking and doting over our puppy Rex as he is also in the fishing boat swatting around the catches of the day.
Steve leaves behind an incredible extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins in Sudbury, Ottawa, and Quebec and many, many, friends and colleagues that he was forever grateful for. Special shout out to his ‘brothas from anotha motha’ – Pierre Bouillon and Dan Dupuis…guys there are no words – you know how he felt about you both xo and to you Chris Jonas, our nephew and Angel on Earth we cannot thank you enough for what you have done for Steve and our family we love you sooomuch!
During his lifetime on Earth, he made an incredible impact on every person he knew. If you knew Steve, you knew you were loved especially if he played jokes on you or liked to razz you and bug the crap out of you. He was the hardest working guy on the crew as an Arborist and Roads Foreman for the City of Greater Sudbury for over 25 years. He was a gentleman and professional in all aspects – a true class act, second to none and always made a person feel special and enjoyed laughing with them and ‘talking shop’ – a real, man’s man. He was intelligent, sensitive, and caring with a heart of gold with a smile and sense of humor no one can ever forget.
We will commend his life on Saturday, August 27th at the Jackson and Barnard Chapel at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch for all to honor Steve as he loved to be the talk of the town (loudest and funniest) and the center of attention – please join us for this once in a lifetime show for the person that we feel was one of the greatest men on earth; we are all blessed to have known him; to have been loved by him. Following the service, the Family requests jamming out to Metallica, AC/DC or Black Sabbath and raising a cold beer in celebration of Steve’s life on Earth. His spirit and memory will live on forever we will make dang sure of that. In lieu of flowers, please pray for the Canadians to win the Stanley Cup again or send a donation to the HSN Foundation (Nephrology Department) or the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada.
Special shout out to the Dialysis team at HSN, Dr. Ratner for helping to ease Jo-Anne’s worries, Dr. Pastre for his compassion, Dr. Zadeh for buying us 6.5 years with Steve after his brain surgery, Dr. TSE, Dr. Jakelski for being Steve’s friend and to the HSN Emergency Department staff for their excellent care and special shout out to our angel nurse Jackie during his last hours. Peace and Love be with you all.
Steve, there are no words to describe our void and the unwavering adoration we have for you. Please guide us and take care of us from afar but more importantly be pain and symptom free and know we love you as big as the sky xo God Bless you,my love and please rest – it is so well deserved!
