Obituary for John Phelan "Phil" Frawley

John Phelan (Phil) Frawley
October 1, 1940 - August 7, 2022

It is with broken hearts that the family of Phelan Frawley announces his passing at Health Sciences North at the age of 81, after a long battle with Parkinson Disease.
Phelan is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Gloria, nee Sherbanuk. He leaves behind two much loved sons, Todd, wife Kerri and children Grace and Alex, and Gregg, wife Kim and children Mavis and Levi. He was so proud of his grandchildren and loved attending their recitals, hockey, and baseball games.
Phelan was predeceased by his parents, M. J., and Jeannette Frawley. He is survived by 4 loving siblings, Mary Jo Dowdall (Arthur deceased), Michael Frawley (Claudette), Doug Frawley (Angela) and Pat Nurmi (Bill). He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Phelan retired from the Car Shop at Canadian Pacific Railroad after 34 years of service.
Phelan loved the outdoors and spent time hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed walking and spent many summers developing the trails on the Spruce Street hill. He was always ready to help anyone; he was often late for dinner after shoveling driveways or lending a hand on his way home from work. Nothing was too heavy to lift and no job was too hard to do. He was a fiercely devoted Habs fan, was an avid history buff and loved talking to people of all ages. Phelan was a man of faith and a long-time parishioner of Christ the King Church.
The family would like to thank Dr. S. Gupta and the doctors, nurses and PSWs on the 8th and 4th floors of Health Sciences North for their wonderful and compassionate care. Also, a big thank you to Bayshore PSWs Alisha and Angele who always treated Phelan with kindness, compassion, and professionalism.
Visitation will be held at Jackson and Barnard, 233 Larch St., Sudbury from 10am to 11am on August 11th, 2022, followed by a service in the chapel at 11am. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson Canada or Neo Kids. For those who wish to view the service online: https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/authorise.php?k=1659987506200880
