In loving memory of Dirce (nee Toneguzzo) Simonato, 93 years who passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Pioneer Manor. Beloved wife of Giovanni “Tito” Simonato predeceased 2006. Loving mother of Mario (Lynn), Marilyn and Nevia. Cherished Nonni of Amanda and Ryan (Melanie) and Bisa to Joshua and Liam. Loving sister of Tina Toneguzzo (Elio predeceased) and the late Alba Toneguzzo (Giuseppe), Mario Toneguzzo (Serena) and Ernesto Toneguzzo (Serena), all predeceased. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Italy. Dirce married the love of her life, Tito, on August 6, 1949, in Italy. In 1952, she and her young son Mario travelled to Canada to be with her husband and together they started their new life in Sudbury, Ontario. Dirce was a lifetime member of the Holy Trinity/Christ the King CWL, The Fogolâr Furlan Club of Sudbury, and the Caruso Club Ladies’ Auxiliary. Mom’s greatest love was her family. Her greatest joy was when the entire family was seated around the dinner table enjoying her many homemade specialties. Nonni/Bisa always had a never-ending supply of homemade pasta and sauce for her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren – the Lights of Her Life. Mom’s favorite pastime was gardening. Her vegetable garden was abundant and supplied all her family, friends, and neighbors. Her flowers were plentiful and in constant bloom. She would often be seen outside at 6 am watering and pruning her lovely gardens, enjoying the quiet. The Family would like to thank Cathie and Lou Hayes, Mom’s “Favorite People in the Whole World” for their Sunday visits complete with coffee and treats. Mom truly loved and enjoyed your company and always looked forward to seeing you. We would also like to thank all the Staff at Pioneer Manor – York Area, especially Maria, Dianne, and Franca, for taking the best care of Nonna, and also Sheila and Angele from Bayshore. Special thanks to Dr. Killian deBlacam for taking care of our Mother during her stay in the hospital. Mom, we love you, and you will be forever in our hearts. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. (Friends may call after 9am Saturday).
