Obituary for Wilbur Brenton Frank

In loving memory of Wilbur Brenton Frank 94 years. Passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 14th, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Villa. Beloved husband of 73 years to Laura Grace (nee Wilneff). Loving father of Janet Coyle (Frank), Eric Frank (Ginette Bock), Vivian MacLeod (Peter), Vera Frank, Elva Hynes (Rick), Elizabeth Miller (David), and Ora Cassin (Dan). Cherished grandfather of Shannon, Kevin, Robert , Laurie (Sam Chretien), Steven, and Katelyn. Great grandfather of Myles, Austin, Logan, and Adora. Predeceased by his parents John Glenmore & Leila Gertrude Frank (nee Mader), 7 brothers; Oscar, Oswald, Omer, John, David, Robert, and Paul and 1 sister Ora. Survived by his brother Vincent Frank and many nieces and nephews.

Wilbur was born on July 11th, 1927 in Newburne, Nova Scotia. In 1949 he wed his lifelong love, Laura and moved to Sudbury, Ontario. He was a WWII Veteran, West Nova Scotia Regiment, Private and Civil Service Class; 1 of 6 brothers who proudly served. He was involved with the Royal Canadian Legion, Minnow Lake. He worked at Falconbridge (Glencore) for 31 years as a timberman. In his off-time Wilbur liked working on his home and property. He was a helpful neighbour and loved to talk to anyone. He was an avid walker who enjoyed the outdoors including blueberry picking with the family early on. Reading, watching hockey, doing puzzles and lifting weights were among his favorite pastimes. Wilbur was a great provider for his family.
Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. A private family service will take place at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home. Donations to St. Joseph’s Villa would be appreciated. Burial in the Civic Memorial Cemetery in the Veteran’s Field of Honor. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home.
