Obituary for Maria Lemega (Trykos)

In loving memory of Maria Lemega (nee Trykos), 97 years, who passed from this world on Friday, May 6, 2022, at Health Sciences North. Beloved wife of Dmytro Lemega (predeceased) for 46 of those years. Adoring mother of Steve (Anne-Marie), Anna Lemega, Paul, George (predeceased), Olga (predeceased), Richard (predeceased), Jim and Mike. Cherished grandmother of Richard, Tracey (Tom), Dan, Tim, Kelly (Nicki), Melizanne, Jacob, Aaron, Alexandra, Lauren, and many great grandchildren. Dear sister of Nicholai (predeceased) and Fenya (predeceased) of Ukraine. Both born in Ukraine, she and Dmytro met and married in Germany, immigrating to Canada in 1949, settling and farming for a time in Port Dover, Southern Ontario before permanently moving to the Sudbury region. An incredibly hard-working woman both indoors and outdoors, she was a tirelessly dedicated mother and grandmother who leaves a rich legacy of love to her family. A woman of devout faith, she enjoyed attending church as well as gardening, cooking for family and friends, knitting, and blueberry picking whenever she possibly could. It brought her joy to see her family come together and to serve a table full of delicious food to them during gatherings, holidays, and special occasions. Her home was truly the center of all family activity. A maternal blessing throughout her life, she leaves behind an enduring memory and a positive example to all her family. Her guiding light will continue to shine for all those who knew and loved her, never to be forgotten. With us for so long, she has left us far too soon. Resting at Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. (Friends may gather after 12 noon, Tuesday, May 17, 2022.) Funeral service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 1pm. Interment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery, Sudbury. Donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
