Obituary for Eileen Galipeau (Deguire)

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of EILEEN ROSE GALIPEAU (nee Deguire) at 81 years of age on Sunday, April 10, 2022, after a well fought battle with cancer. Eileen was born in Noelville and later moved to Sudbury, then onto Elliot Lake at the age of 18 where she started her banking career. She was transferred to Sudbury a year later and eventually went on to work for The Northridge Savings and Credit Union where she became Manager in 1985 and retired in 1995 after 36 years in the industry. When she moved back to Sudbury she met and married the love of her life Wilfred (Willie) Galipeau (known as POM POM to his grand daughters) (pre-deceased in 2007). In 2009 she married Andy Fournier and shared a good life until his passing in 2013. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Tami White (Bruce) of Sudbury, Carrie Melanson (Marc) of Mississauga, Janie Galipeau (Michael) also of Sudbury and Linda (Rolly) of Noelville. Cherished grandmother of Ashley (Dan), Kayla (Daryl), Samantha (Jared), Shauna (Julien), Peyton (Ethan), Paige, Matthew, Brendan, and Erin. Great grandmother to Carter, Callie, Carsen, Kourtney, and Scarlett. Loving sister to Art, Gilbert, Leo, Hector, and Denis (all predeceased), Gerry (Diane), Anita (Dennis) also her best friend and Maurice (Sue) Tremblay. She loved spending time at their summer cottage on Ministic lake and winters in Florida. Eileen was an avid golfer, an amazing cook, loved to read, dance, and spend time with family, friends and the "dirty dozen". Eileen loved walking and adored her dogs Zoe and Bailey. Eileen had a strong attachment to her faith in God and found comfort in prayer. She was an active member of the Catholic Women's League and devoted countless hours to her church. She felt peace in knowing that God was with her during this time. Connecting to her almighty God strengthened her bond and her belief in her afterlife.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a celebration of her life to be held at Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Thursday April 14, 2022, at 1:30 PM followed by a chapel service at 2:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations to Alzheimer’s Society or the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
