Obituary for Robert Erb

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert “Bob” Erb, on Thursday, November 18th, 2021 at the age of 83 years. Beloved husband of the late Harriet Goulais Erb. He is survived by his loving children Robert Jr. (Patty), Rosemarie (Eric), Barbara (Gordon), and Kristofer (Christine). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Melanie, Kayden, Gabrielle, Ian, and Zachary; and by Brooke, Tyler, and Brayden. He is survived by his brother Winfred. Predeceased by his parents Wilhelm and Anna, his brothers Aloys and Berthold as well as his sister Clara. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him and will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Robert was born in Dorfborn, Germany and at 17 years of age he decided to move to Canada to pursue his dreams of a bigger and better life. He started off in Hamilton until he eventually ventured up north and found his way to Sudbury where he met the love of his life, Harriet, and started raising their family. Robert retired from INCO after 31 years. He and his wife owned the Royal Apartments and they were always very proud of the services that they provided and the many friends they had made that respected them dearly. He was a proud member of the Nickel Belt Coin and Numismatic Club and belonged to St. Patrick's Parish.

Robert loved to travel and spending time at the camp full of family and friends along the shores of Lake Nipissing. He was an avid fan of the Sudbury Wolves and tried to never miss a game. This man was many things. He was a Son, Brother, Father, Papa, Uncle, and father-figure to many. He will be greatly missed by everyone he encountered. Those who knew Robert would say without conviction that in some way he touched and changed their lives. He will be remembered as a hard-working, strong-minded, kind-hearted man with a unique character who treasured every moment and lived a life to remember.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Wong and the nursing staff at the HSN CMU for their care and compassion they provided. They would also like to thank the nursing staff at Bayshore for their care and support throughout the years.
