Obituary

Jean-Marc Léo-Paul Labelle
April 14, 1958 – June 4, 2021 (63 years)

After a courageous 7-year battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean-Marc Labelle (Sr.) on June 4th, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He will be remembered as the most amazing and loving husband to Denise Labelle (Côté), the best and coolest dad to Julie Labelle-Bourgoin and Jean-Marc Labelle (Jr.), the caring and helping father-in-law to Claude Bourgoin and Danica Labelle (Pilon) and the fun-loving pepére to Gabrielle and Camille Bourgoin. He was the funny, kind and understanding little brother who was always proud to say he was part of a family of 14 siblings : Marie-Laure Labelle (late Gérald), late Fernand Delarosbil (Christina), late Estelle Lescault (late Germain), late Marcel Delarosbil (Carolynne), Paulette Beyore (Maxime), Jaqueline Buchwald (Vern), late Fernande Caron (late Norman), late Réjean Labelle (Juliette Lavergne), late Alcide Delarosbil (late Raymonde), Pierrette Bouliane (Bertrand), Lucien Delarosbil, Normand Delarosbil (Liliane) and Suzanne St-Amour-Aubin (Claude, late Claude). He was also the kind-hearted brother-in-law to Rachel Valade (Robert), Monique Côté (Mike Beaulieu) and André Côté (Lynne Langlois), the awesome ready-for-adventure uncle to many nieces and nephews and a great and cherished friend to so many good people.

A man with a plan, he was always determined to realize his dreams while living life to its fullest alongside his wife and children. He had a continuous drive for success and happiness while inspiring those around him. He started his career in banking then continued with the gas company. A dedicated manager at Enbridge for over 30 years, he led the Sudbury Billing Center team with pride and was always ready to relieve and help out in other areas of the province. With a contagious laugh, sense of humour and “joie de vivre”, he had a genuine and sincere connection with many who crossed his path. He had a love for boating and a passion to share it with others. With a Pepsi in one hand and his “favorite” wife of 41 years of marriage and 5 years of being a “high school sweetheart” alongside him, he truly enjoyed and cherished all of life’s moments. His nickname “Gonna Fly” was a true reflection of his adventurous character that included skydiving, boating, skiing and hanging off the top of the CN Tower to name a few. On a more typical day, you could find him camping, singing and dancing to music, story telling, relaxing at the boat or going to the movies as he became a “regular” at Cineplex. A devoted husband and most loving father, he was truly a family man that moved numerous hearts. During his battle against cancer, he’d say “I can’t change the outcome, but I’ll have fun getting there”. In his honour, we will continue to live life to it’s fullest. Rest in peace JM, you will be missed by many and never forgotten. Xo

We would like to thank the Northeast Cancer Center for their amazing care over the years, the Health Sciences North Tower 4th floor team and the Home Care team for the care during his final weeks. Donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated. There will be a celebration of life for his family and friends at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Sudbury Park Lawn Cremation Services.

Jean-Marc Léo-Paul Labelle
14 avril 1958 – 4 juin 2021 (63 ans)

My sincere condolences to Denise and family. Jean-Marc was a positive influence for everyone that got to know him. I am happy to have had the privilege of getting to know him, to work with him and to often have good coffee break conversations with him. His great attitude and joy for life was certainly remarkable. For me he was an inspiration and he will be missed. (Gerald Laforest)
