Obituary for Robert McMahon

ROBERT SAMUEL MCMAHON
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved “Bob”, “Sam”, who left this world in the early morning hours of June 9, 2021, 93 years of age at Pioneer Manor, Sudbury.
Dear father to Ron McMahon, wife Katherine McMahon (Sylvestri); and cherished Papa to his grandchildren John, Meaghan and Gregory McMahon.
Born in Ariss, ON, the son of Samuel and Edith (Haus); brother to Russel, Hilbert, John, Annie, Allan, Rita and Marie. After growing up and working on farms in the Guelph area, he moved to Creighton Mine where he met his beloved wife Ella (Petrenko). After operating service stations on Notre Dame and Lorne Street for several decades, he retired from Cambrian Ford to care for his wife Ella (Helen) who was ill for several years. He showed a love and devotion towards her that no man could ever match. Bob and Ella spent pretty much every weekend for 50 years at Lake Penage where they had a camp. Bob’s hobby was oil painting. His joy was to paint a picture that had special meaning to someone and then gift the painting back to them.
Bob was a kind and good-hearted man. He was loved by his many friends and caregivers at Meadowbrooke retirement community in Lively and at Pioneer Manor in Sudbury. His tenderness towards others along with his sense of humor was with him until the very end. Bob was blessed to have the professional and empathetic caregivers he had at Pioneer Manor. They truly loved him and made sure he passed tenderly into the hands of God. An internment of ashes service will be held for family at St. Stanislaus cemetery in Walden.
Arrangements entrusted to Sudbury Park Lawn Cremation Services.
