Obituary

In loving memory of Beatrice Gilberte Lizotte (nee Cheff) 93 years, who passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, June 5th, 2021. Beatrice was born in Cochrane, Ontario on November 15th, 1927. Daughter of Napoleon and Laura Cheff (nee Lalande) both predeceased. Having lost her mother at 10 days old, she was greeted by the Dupuis family, and when they passed away, a daughter Gracia Bergeron (nee Dupuis) adopted her and raised her as her own. Beatrice completed her high school education at St. Mary’s Academy in Haileybury, Ontario. She then entered the convent of “Les Soeurs de l’Assomption” in Nicolet, Quebec, a teaching order, where she lived for 15 years. In August of 1962, after an exclaustration of one year in Sudbury, Beatrice met and married Jean-Louis Lizotte (predeceased in 2018). A devoted mother, wife, and teacher, Beatrice retired from teaching in June of 1987, after 40 years of generous contribution to the Catholic education of youth of the northern region and in the Sudbury Area. For Beatrice, her retirement years were the best, as she could now enjoy fully, the presence of her children; Charlotte-Ann, Normand predeceased, Denis, and Daniel (Carmen); grandchildren Stephanie, Dylan (Samantha), Cassandra (Josh), Kristy (Dan), and Dustin (Shelby), and great grandchildren Kolton, Lena, and Eliza-Mae. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her many family and friends. At last, she found time to give to others: Pioneer Manor, to her mother (Gracia Bergeron) and other residents, at Foyer Notre-Dame-House, working for the street kids, Maison de la Paix, encouraging those who are sick with the HIV/Aids virus. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Private entombment service in the Civic Memorial Cemetery alongside her husband Jean-Louis. Donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice or the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home.

As a young boy I was always in awe to see my Aunt Beatrice in her habit when we stopped in Haileybury. She was always so sweet to us. As cousins we were never close as our paths never seemed to cross as we went on with our own separate lives. It was always special when I got to see her from time to time at family functions. My mother Cecile cherished her sister and visited or spoke often of her. She will be in our hearts forever and we offer to you our sincerest sympathies in the loss of your dear mother. She truly will Rest In Peace in the hands of the Lord.
