Obituary for Patricia Quinn

Patricia Anne Quinn, 73, of Estaire, Ontario, died peacefully on May 22, 2021 in the arms of her beloved daughter after a brief hospitalization due to complications from hereditary hemochromatosis.

Pat was a dedicated and proud Mother and Nannie, a captivating storyteller, and an independent spirit.

Born on March 17th in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Patty immigrated to Canada as a child and lived in Orillia, Mono Mills/Orangeville, Tottenham, and Toronto. She worked in finance for most of her career and traveled extensively in her 20s and early 30s, settling briefly in Montreal. Following the death of her father, Charles John Quinn, she moved to Mississauga to live with her mother, Kathleen Quinn and was an active member of St. Christopher’s Parish in Clarkson. There she raised her daughter, Caitlyn Quinn, with so much love and laughter. Together they happily filled their evenings and weekends with Irish dancing classes and Feiseanna.

Pat loved cooking a proper Irish breakfast, attending big family gatherings, and relaxing with a smoke outdoors. She retired to Port Dover, where she enjoyed taking friends to Knechtels for fish ’n’ chips. In 2011, she moved to Estaire to be near her daughter and lived with her friend and sister-in-law, Jane Quinn. She was happiest when surrounded by family: chatting and reminiscing with Caitlyn, touring the garden with her son-in-law, Alex Wood, and buying gifts for and being silly with her two adoring grandchildren, Finn and Evelyn. Pat was a dedicated follower of Coronation Street, a frequent shopper at GT, and a board member of the Isles of Innisfree Non-Profit Homes.

Pat will be missed by her large extended family, especially the Northern Quinns. A mass and interment of ashes will occur once restrictions are lifted.

Thank you to Erika from 4S at Health Sciences North and Dr. Simon Cote for the support you provided; it will never be forgotten.
