Obituary for Alberto Petrone
In loving memory of Alberto (Salvatore) Petrone 1927 – 2021
It is with sadness that the Petrone family announces the passing of their loving patriarch, Alberto (Salvatore) on Friday, May 21st at the age of 94. Alberto considered himself a rich man, not for his material possessions, but for the love of his family. He was the dear son of the late Michele and Laura (Scornaienchi) Petrone from Aprigliano, Cosenza in the Calabria region of Southern Italy, and brother to Giuseppe (Rea - predeceased) and nephew Michael from Toronto. He shared 62 years with his cherished wife Agata (predeceased 2017), and leaves behind his four devoted children Michael, Laura (Mike), Louie (Dianna), Antony (Donna), and baby Luigi (predeceased). Alberto was also a proud Nonno and taught his grandchildren many life lessons through his stories, bocce games, Italian songs and traditions - Natalie, Tony, Giuliana, Dana, Katrina and Ava will miss him dearly.
Alberto made his house a home with Agata in Sudbury in the early 1950s, and second to his dedication to his family was his exemplary work ethic. After a long career with Inco in the Transportation Department, he worked as a Train Engineer, before retiring as a Yard Foreman.
Alberto spent his final years at the Pioneer Manor in Sudbury where he received wonderful care. The Petrone family extends their appreciation for the kindness and compassion that was shown to Alberto by Sylvie, Bencey, Maria, Diane, Paula, Franca and the entire Pioneer Manor team. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Sheila for assisting him in his later years at home.
A private family service was held to celebrate Alberto’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pioneer Manor Residents Council would be greatly appreciated.
Alberto’s memories and his love will remain in our hearts for forever.
