Obituary for Connie Bennett (Turpin)

It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Connie Bennett at the Finlandia Nursing Home on Sunday, May 23rd, 2021. Dear wife of Mickey (predeceased), loving mother of Mike (Pat), Lynne Haapamaki (Tim), and Brent (Brenda predeceased). She was the adoring Nan (grandmother) to Trevor (Carolyn), Tanya, Tara (Ted), Keith, Kim, Tracy and a proud great-grandmother to Drew and Anna. Born November 4th, 1925 to Oscar and Laurenza Turpin along with 14 siblings: Armand, Simone, Conrad, Annette, Aline, Jean, Fernand, Jeannine, Yvon, Denise, Gaetan, Gaetanne, Marcel - all predeceased - and youngest sibling, Gaston.

Connie’s life revolved around her family. She was very devoted to her children and took great pride in their accomplishments. She was a devout Catholic, and a lifelong member of Holy Redeemer Church, remaining a member of the C.W.L. for 57 years. Her faith and commitment to her church were strong and unwavering, and provided her with comfort and peace throughout difficult times. Connie enjoyed country music, dancing, playing cards, and board games. She was an excellent, hardworking seamstress with hundred of satisfied clients over the years. She was kind, generous, and friendly to all she met, and loved having friends drop by to chat, and she always had time to sit for a cup of tea and catch up with them. Her warm smile, welcoming attitude, and thoughtfulness will be missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of her life will be held at a future date once restrictions are lifted. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Finlandia SISU Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.
