In loving memory of Professor Emeritus Dr. John Sahadat who passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 3rd, 2021 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Lorraine (Nault). Loving brother of Sheila Elliott predeceased (Don predeceased), Wahemah Mohammed predeceased (Noor predeceased), Margaret Gaudette predeceased (Joe of Sudbury), Rev. Joseph predeceased (Lynda of Picton), Ezekiel (Hazra) of Trinidad, Joyce Sahadat of Trinidad, and Samuel predeceased (Carol of New York). Beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews. John was very devoted to his family, friends, and students. He was a volunteer at the General Hospital assisting the pastoral team with the chronic care patients from 1990 and continued until the hospital closed. He continued at Health Sciences North, devoting himself with Mended Hearts until 2016. Professor at the University of Sudbury (federated with Laurentian University) from 1970 to 2010. He taught Philosophy and Religious Studies. His involvement with the administration of the University ranged from the Board of Regents to many committees. For the students in residence, he established the Debating Society, Culture Night and Awards Night. In all these areas, his dedication, both to his profession and to his students went far beyond the call of duty. His quest for academic excellence, his gentle personality and sensitivity. Have been a source of inspiration and motivation to hundreds of students over the years and he has endeavored to bring out the best in them. A memorial mass will be held in St. Patrick’s Church on Wednesday, July 14th, 2021 at 11am, with his ashes being laid to rest at the Park Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sudbury Food Bank or Health Sciences North would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
