Obituary

MELODIE FAIRBURN
January 20, 1961 – April 29, 2021
It is with heavy hearts, the family of Melodie Lisa Fairburn announces her passing after
a courageous, long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. Melodie will be lovingly remembered by her partner of many years Ted Callaghan, her daughter Farrah Garrett and Grandchildren Charlie and Claire. She will be missed and never forgotten by her sisters, Donna Landry and Lorie Fairburn. Also left to mourn is her extended family and many friends who will remember her magnetic personality and warm smile. Melodie will be forever recognized as a talented artist who was inspired by her Mother, Isabelle. Her artistic skills encompassed many creative areas with quilting being her true passion. Melodie was truly a multi-talented artist who designed and made quilts, jewellry, paintings, knitted items and greeting cards. Her family and friends will treasure the many handcrafted gifts they received. The family wishes to extend heart-filled thanks and gratitude to her Personal Support Workers who provided her with care, support and comfort over the years. They also want to express their appreciation to attending doctors and nurses, in particular Dr. Thakrar. While her entire family are grieving her death, they will take comfort in the fact that Melodie is now at peace and embraced in the arms of her higher power. Celebration of Melodie’s Life will be held at the R.J. Barnard chapel at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 1pm. Cremation with interment at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Massey. No funeral visitation. Due to the COVID-19 directives, 10 people or less in our chapel. Facemasks are mandatory. My sincerest condolences to Ted, Farrah and all of Melodie's loved ones. Keeping you all in my prayers and thoughts.

I had the pleasure to meet and work closely with Melodie at Cambrian College while we were both in Continuing Education Department. She was always so good and kind to me. I always remember her smile...so genuine and warm. I am sure she will leave a sorrowful hole in the lives of her family and friends. Rest in Peace, Melodie.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Melodie's passing.
Melodie was a cherished childhood friend, and oh the memories of birthday parties, dolls, mud pies and shenanigans of all sorts! It was such a blessing to have reconnected with her again in recent years, although I was crushed to learn of her MS diagnosis. I so admired Melodie for her beautiful craft work, always looking forward to photos showcasing her latest pieces. Her resilience and  determination were an inspiration to many. May she rest in peace.
Today's service was so beautiful. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to attend online. Sending heartfelt condolences to the family.

Please accept my condolences for your loss. I only met Melodie once, when I joined Lorie for a visit a couple of years ago. Melodie graciously welcomed me into her home and we enjoyed a delightful afternoon. I know her shiny and creative soul will be missed. It was a lovely service.
Sending love and prayers,
Gwen
