Obituary for Judith "Judy" Anne Cramer
With heavy hearts, family and friends alike mourn the passing of Judy (Judith Anne) Cramer who died on Saturday April 24, 2021 in her 66th year.
Judy was born in Toronto on June 11, 1955 and moved to Mississauga at the age of 3. But her very big heart belongs to Sudbury where she attended Laurentian University and where she worked for the next 30 years, retiring in 2009. Judy was the daughter of the late James and Phyllis Cramer and daughter-in-law to the late Wilfrid and Terry Snow. Judy is survived by her loving wife and best friend of 40 years Debbie Snow. Judy is the cherished sister of Dick (predeceased 2016) and Sheila, Nancy and Arnie (predeceased 2012) and John and Jan. Judy will be remembered as a loving aunt to Rocky and Emily, Andria and Jonathan, Erin and Jamie, Michael and Natalie, Diana and Simon and Nicholas and great aunt to Jane, Clare and Matthew. Judy was a beloved sister-in-law to Randy and Elaine, Patti (predeceased) and Richard.
Judy will always be remembered for her big heart and loving embrace of many cats and dogs that had the pleasure and privilege to be part of her family with Debbie. Love for all animals was second nature to Judy. Everyone who knows Judy knows that her passion for the Toronto Maple Leafs was second only to her beloved camp. Time spent at her camp with her dear friends gave Judy so much pleasure and joy. And no one could stoke a sauna fire like our Judy. She is greatly missed by Laura and Claire, Caroline, Carolle and Sandy. Judy was a voracious reader who could always recommend a great book. She also knew the lyrics to the most obscure old songs but her favourites were the old songs of her youth which she would sing softly when she thought you were not listening. No one enjoyed an old movie more than Judy and she could name every actor on the play bill. Never one to shy away from tough situations, Judy held her own against a cancer that eventually took her away from us. Judy and Debbie will always be grateful to Dr. Gopalakrishnan who saw Judy through her long cancer journey, to Dr. Singh who helped her rise above pain to enjoy a few more laughs and to all the caring oncology nurses who made the dark times a bit less dark. The compassion and empathy given to Judy and Debbie by the care team at Maison McCulloch Hospice will always be remembered and deeply appreciated not only for what they did to make Judy’s final days comfortable but for how they did it. Judy would want us to remember that she is with us still – in the laughter we share, the memories we hold in our hearts, in the breeze that ruffles our hair, in the goodness and care we give to each other. With memories of the countless gifts Judy has given us, we must now face the challenge of waiting until we can all be together to celebrate the wonderful life you shared with us. Your handprints and ringing laughter will always stay in our hearts. You are dearly loved, deeply appreciated and sorely missed by everyone you touched.
