Obituary for John Joseph Lent

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, John Joseph Lent, on Thursday, April 8th, 2021 at Health Sciences North Hospital in Sudbury, Ontario. Born in St. John, New Brunswick on February 3rd, 1947, John spent the majority of his life in Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

In 1979, he earned his Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic license at Syncrude Canada in Fort McMurray, Alberta, and continued his career working in various mines throughout Ontario, where he eventually retired. He treasured his long-time friends that he made in Kirkland Lake, Timmins, and Larder Lake, Ontario. John was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and was a race car enthusiast. John’s greatest pride and joy came from being a father to his son Bernie. The loss of John is easier to bear knowing that he has been reunited with his son.

John was predeceased by his loving mother, Lena Peterson, and his most treasured son, Bernie Lent. John will be sorely missed and forever remembered by the love of his life, Ginette; her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren; his grandchildren Alex, Kelton, and Jacob; his best friend and brother Philip Lent (Leona), Bob Lent (Mary), Jim Lent (Debbie); sisters Beverly Crane (Robin) and Debbie Chevrier (Gary); his nephews William Lent and his children Devin, Ryan, and Addison; Wayne Lent; his niece Melanie and her daughter Jessica.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a service and interment will be held at a later date. In memory of his beloved son Bernie, donations in John’s memory can be made to the Toronto General Hospital - Transplant unit.
