JOKI, Lennard Toivo Matti
December 20, 1947-April 5, 2021
It is with profound sorrow we announce the passing of Lennard Joki at age 73, on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Finlandia Nursing Home. He entered Finlandia in April 2018 after a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s in 2015 and a stroke in 2017. Lennard is predeceased by his parents Uno(1967) and Linda (Kantola) (1973). He was the loved and loving brother of Marlene Vorkapic (Nikola) (2014) of Hamilton. Surviving are cousins in Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States. Lennard was born and lived in Sudbury until the age of 23 when he moved to Toronto to attend Ryerson. In Sudbury, he was employed as the Assistant Manager at the Empire Theatre. He was also the volunteer Box Office Manager for the Sudbury Theatre Guild in the late 1960’s until 1971. Lennard graduated from the Business Program at Ryerson in 1974. The major part of Lennard’s employment career was served with the Apprenticeship Branch of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. He retired from the Ministry in 2003. He was a lifetime member of the North Toronto Horticultural Society. Lennard’s passions were many: gardening at his home, cooking, baking, hosting dinner parties, music and musical concerts, theatre, travelling and collecting art. Special thanks to the compassionate staff in Haapa Wing, Finlandia, who cared for Lennard so well in meeting his needs.
