Babyak, Ruth (nee Hanson)
On Monday, March 23, 2021, Ruth Babyak passed peacefully at the age of 74. Ruth will be
remembered by her sister Marg (Ken), her children: Sherrie, Susan (Glendon), Colin (Cathy)
and Shaunna. Ruth also leaves behind grandchildren: Bridget, Aaron, Stuart, Emily, Alyssa and
Nathaniel.

Ruth will be reunited with her parents (George and Elda Hanson), her brother Ted and her
grandson Jeremy.

Ruth enjoyed the simple things in life, like taking endless photos of her family and sitting down
to a competitive game of Canasta or cribbage. As a single parent for much of her life, she
worked hard to give her children the best chance to succeed in life and worked jobs as varied as
manufacturing curling brooms, cooking and waitressing. She also got to enjoy living in many
different places, as far west as Calgary, as far east as New Brunswick and as far north as
Yellowknife. On the topic of cooking and baking, she was creative and versatile and all of her
children will remember her version of the family favorite Hungarian Torte Cake and also be
forever haunted by her leftover casserole.

Ruth will be sadly missed by her friends and family.
