Obituary for Ruth Boeswald (Ilsolfer)

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ruth Boeswald (née Ilsolfer) at the age of 91 at Pioneer Manor in Sudbury on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Beloved wife of Josef Boeswald predeceased in 1973. Loving mother of Joseph (Jan), Milla (Richard), Walter predeceased in 1994 (Lynn), Ernest (Sonia) and Werner predeceased in 2018 (Michelle). Ruth was also Oma to her cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany (Paulo), Joseph (Meaghan), Jennifer (Joël), Lynzy (Ian), Walter Jr. (Danielle Hrechka), Reniessa predeceased in 2004, Keggan, Cohen, Grayson, Michael and Christopher. She also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren Matteo, Abby, Ally, Lochlan and Isla. Ruth was born on March 10th, (a birth date that she shared with her dearest brother Karl), in Germany in 1930 to Martin and Maria Ilsolfer. She also leaves behind her much beloved sisters, Renate predeceased in 2021 and Monika “Mon”, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews, all in Germany. Ruth immigrated to Canada in 1950 with her husband Josef. They settled in Rouyn-Noranda, Québec, where they remained until moving to Sudbury in 1971. Mom was an energetic and devoted parent who singlehandedly raised her children after tragically losing her spouse at such an early age. Soon after, she helped with the babysitting of her grandchildren who adored her. Meanwhile, she would supplement her income by babysitting neighbours children during the day, then rush off to her custodial supervisor’s job in the evening. It was during these times that she would enlist her eldest children to assist her with her cleaning contracts. Eventually, all her children participated in these endeavours. Mom taught us the value of hard work and instilled in us a strong work ethic and the pride of completing all tasks to the best of her abilities. Thank you Mom for all the life lessons you imparted to us. Dad’s early passing made things difficult for you, but somehow you found the energy and the will to go on. This we will always treasure. We are also certain that as you rejoin your beloved Josef in Heaven, he will be so proud for everything you did for your family. You were the glue that held everything together. We’ll miss you tremendously, Mom. Until we meet again, please look after Dad, Walter, Werner and Reniessa for us. We would like to thank the Personal Support Workers, the Nurses and the Staff from the “Scenic Residence” at Pioneer Manor for their dedication and exceptional care given to our mother during her stay there. Due to the COVID restrictions, there will be no visitation. A private family memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer (NOFCC) would be great appreciated. For donations or messages of condolence, www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com
