Obituary for Winston Olive

In loving memory of Winston Olive 79 years.

After a long illness, he passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence in Levack with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021. Beloved husband of 56 years to Paulette (nee Laviolette). Loving father of Monique Fortin (Frederick), Barbara Olive, and Edward Olive (Angel). Cherished grandfather of Andrew (Mia), Melissa (Zach), Christopher, Alexander, Stephanie, and Eric. Great grandfather of Olivia, Lincoln, and Veronica. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Theresa Olive (nee Charron). Dear brother of James (Bertha) both predeceased, Peter predeceased, Charles predeceased, Patrick predeceased, Harry predeceased, Florence (Roland predeceased), Harriette (Frederick) both predeceased, and Mary June (Robert predeceased). Son-in-law of Phillippe and Aline Laviolette (nee Prouly) both predeceased. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Winston loved to spend time with family and friends. His passions were hunting, trapping, fishing, golfing, horse racing and playing pool at the Golden Age Club, where he was a long-time member. He excelled in gardening. He worked as a Stationary Engineer, starting in 1963 at the General Hospital and then worked with INCO until his retirement in 1998.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the amazing staff at Bayshore and the Maison McCulloch Hospice. We are sincerely gratuitous for the wonderful the care provided to us. Also, to Bishop Robert "Bob" Bourgon who administered his last rites.

Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. A memorial mass to be announced will be held at St. Bartholomeus Church in Levack. Internment in the Maplecrest Cemetery in Dowling at later date. Donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation or Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home.
