Obituary for Claude Edward Paradis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Claude “Stretch” Edward Paradis of Sudbury, Ontario on February 24th, 2021 at the St. Joseph Villa. Claude was born November 28th, 1935 in Coniston to Jeanette (nee Duhaime) and Edouard Paradis. He was raised in Coniston with his siblings Carmen (Victor Gauthier), Roger (Denise Malette), Pierrette (George McDonald), and Francine. Claude married Eleanor Storozuk on May 20th, 1957 and the two settled in Sudbury where they built their lives together.

Claude was a loving husband and dedicated father to Peter, Paul (Gisele Bélanger), and Mary Louise (John Raymond). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Stephanie Raymond (Jason Cook), Alain Paradis, Melissa Raymond-Beaulieu (Dominic Beaulieu), Nicole Paradis, and Sophie Paradis and by his great-grandchildren Maxton Beaulieu and Maeva Beaulieu. Claude is fondly remembered and will also be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many good friends.

Claude was a long-term employee of Bell Canada before enjoying a successful sales career with Snap On Tools where he was recognized as the top salesman in Canada in his first year with the company. He and Eleanor had fond memories of the time they spent at their cottage on the French River with their children, where they loved receiving and entertaining extended family and friends. Claude and Eleanor were fortunate to travel extensively in their retirement, making friends everywhere they went.

Claude died peacefully with family by his side during his final days. The family will be forever grateful for the care and compassion that Claude received from the staff at St. Joseph Villa. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice in Claude’s memory or just perform an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness to a stranger in need. Because of the current pandemic, a celebration of Claude’s life and legacy will be scheduled at a later date when it is safe to gather, break bread, and raise a glass to our beloved Stretch. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home. For donations or messages of condolence www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.
