Obituary for Teresa Ofelia Plozzer (Flores Mejia)

We are deeply saddened to announce that our loving Mom/Lita/Tia/Zia and friend Teresa Ofelia Plozzer passed away on February 18th, 2021 at home with her loving family by her side.
Beloved wife of Gino, her Viejo. Devoted mother of Mark and Marah (Colin). Proud and loving abuela to Ramsey, who called her “Lita”. Dear sister of Jaime (Maria Luisa predeceased), Joaquin (Raquel), Guadalupe (Fernando), Esperanza predeceased (Cecilio), Luis predeceased (Elena), Mario predeceased (Amelia predeceased), and Manuel predeceased (Yulvia). Cherished sister-in-law to Gino’s nine brothers and sisters in Italy and his sister Giuseppina (Giovanni predeceased) of Sudbury. Treasured Tia and Zia to many nieces and nephews in Mexico, Italy, Poland and Canada.
Teresa was born in Mexico City in 1947, daughter of Jose Guadalupe and Maria. In 1970, she met Gino at a World Cup soccer game and moved to Sudbury to begin their loving life together. Teresa’s immigrant experience made her sensitive to the challenges that newcomers faced in Canada. She was always willing to connect with people and made many lifelong friendships because of her welcoming and generous nature. Her large group of Latin American friends were so close they considered each other family and she loved them all dearly. She retired in 2015 from her job as a hotel housekeeping manager where she was remembered for being a patient, humorous and caring leader. She called her husband, children, son-in-law, and her grandson her everything.
Teresa was a beautiful soul who radiated positive light. She always spoke with love, listened with kindness, and accepted people for who they are. She had a joy of life in all she did - laughing, sharing stories, singing mariachi and dancing with her family and friends. She was happiest when she was feeding her loved ones and often shared her salsas, chilitos and tomatillos from her garden, as well as her incomparable guacamole.
To our beautiful Teresita, you have been an inspiration to us all and we are forever grateful for our time with you. You will live forever in our hearts.
A joyous celebration of her life will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation https://www.ncfsudbury.com/ in Teresa’s memory would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home, www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.
