Caline Finlayson Chapais, whose smile could light up a room, died suddenly on February 10, 2021 at her Sudbury home. She was 61. Caline was born in Longlac, Ontario on September 17, 1959. She met her life partner Arthur Chapais in Longlac. They married in 1986 and moved together with their children to Sudbury in 1994. The mother of three daughters, Caline always made sure to compliment them and make them feel beautiful and loved. One of her biggest joys was listening to her son sing as he strummed on the guitar. Caline had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making other people laugh. She loved to dance and could be counted on to be the life of the party. As much as Caline adored her children, she took particular pride in her grandchildren. She was a generous person who saw sharing her clothes as giving a part of herself. Caline had great times living life surrounded by generations of her loved ones. Caline was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Josephine Finlayson, her siblings, Mitchell, Norman, Victor, Brian, and Mary, and her first partner Randy Waboose. Caline is survived by her life partner, Arthur Chapais, her children, Sally Finlayson, Randi Finlayson and her partner Romeo, Kayla Chapais, and AJ Chapais and his wife Christine, and her sister, Grace. Caline also leaves behind 13 grandchildren including Starr, Hailey, Danielle, Dayna, Kianna, RJ, Airianna, Treston, Zenia, Jeziah-James, Genesis-Gene, Dominyk and Kaliera and six great-grandchildren including Keegan, Alora, Tommy, Olivia, Ayvin and Athena as well as countless nieces and nephews. Resting at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury where friends may gather from 3-9pm and after 12noon Monday. Funeral service in the R. J. Barnard Chapel on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021 at 1pm. Due to COVID-19 directives, a maximum of 50 people in the visiting room at a time and a maximum of 80 people in the chapel.
