Obituary for James F. Jackson

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Jim as he passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario in his 82nd year. Jim was predeceased by his parents Fred & Helmi Jackson as well as his daughters Sandy & Cory Jackson, & his youngest brother Ken. Also predeceased by his spouse, Miriam Jackson (nee Cornett). He will be dearly missed by his daughter Tammy Jackson Allen (Kelley), Alfred, ON & his best friend Mary Fraser, Falconbridge, ON. Survived also by his brother Robert (Sudbury, ON). Proud grandfather to Rosie & James Garrill of Christchurch, NZ & Cassie & Caitlin Allen of Alfred, ON. Dearly remembered by his sisters-in-law Beth Jackson & Mary Anderson (John) & his nieces and nephews Shane, Jim & David Jackson, Wendy Jones, Sarah Anderson, & Steven Anderson.
Jim was born in Timmins, Ontario & was true outdoorsman from a young age. He graduated from Queens University with a Bachelor of Engineering & a Masters in Metallurgical Engineering. He was employed over 25 years by Falconbridge Mines Ltd. His career enabled him to travel across Canada & around the globe. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying time at camp on Lake Wanapitae & Manitoulin Island where he enjoyed working on many building projects. Jim loved snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, ski jumping, curling, and spending time with family and friends. He was a dedicated volunteer to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 336 in Falconbridge.
A celebration of Jim’s life will take place in the upcoming months when restrictions are more relaxed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, Sudbury, Ont. In memoriam donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 336 Poppy Fund or to NEO kids Foundation
