Obituary for Robert Wallace Yrcha

Yrcha, Robert Wallace
Born April 22nd, 1938. Deceased February 5th, 2021.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad (Bobber, Bob, Bobby, Robert, Grandpa). Married for 60 years to the love of his life, Rosemary Yrcha (nee Bradshaw), predeceased June 11th, 2019. He is survived by his daughters, Wendy Borges (Frank Simeoni) and Shelley O’Connor (Kevin), his grandchildren, Norah Borges (Jeff Allan), Andrew Borges, Katie O’Connor (Matt Knop), and the newest addition to the family, his great-granddaughter, Mia Allan. His siblings all predeceased him: Ruth O’Brien, Jack Yrcha, and Gayle Rossi. Fondly remembered by Janis and Ray Bradshaw, Karen and Mike Mittal, Ron Bradshaw, and many loving nieces and nephews.

A truly kind man, Bob loved to laugh, smile, joke around, and never missed an opportunity to have his picture taken. He loved family gatherings and he was always ready to lend a helping hand, to chaperone a school trip, to provide French tutoring, and drive his grandchildren wherever they needed to go. He was proud of his younger years in Garson and Coniston, and enjoyed telling stories of those days. His passion for the printing press had him begin his career at the age of 16 in Toronto with his eventual retirement as the Manager of the Printing Department at Laurentian University. His other passion was the Navy League of Canada. He was Past President of the Sudbury Branch of the Navy League of Canada, as well as Past Director of the Navy League of Canada, Ontario Division, where he was instrumental in developing the NL Training Program for Cadets. He was Past President of the Irish Regiment Association and Member of the Old Guard. He also served as the VP of the Federal and Ontario PC Association.

Special thanks to the staff at HSN 6th Floor, South Tower for their care and compassion. At the family’s request there will be no funeral visitation or service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation. Donations to the Sudbury Branch of the Navy League, the Irish Regiment Bursary Fund, or the RCL Branch 76 Poppy Fund. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home, www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com http://www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.
