Obituary for Giordano Filippo "Gord" Battistoni

In loving memory of Giordano Battistoni, 87 years, on January 23rd, 2021 at Pioneer Manor. Beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Pevato). Dear son of Orlando and Maria (Cesaroni) both predeceased. Brother of Gabriella (predeceased) and Virginio (wife Evelyn) both predeceased. Loving father of Mark (Graziella) and Cristina (Peter Corbett). Cherished Nonno of Ian, Brett, Mia, Francesca, and Grace. Giordano was born in Bellochi DiFano, Italy. He emigrated to Canada in 1951 at the age of 18, before settling in Sudbury. For many years Giordano “Gord” worked at both Carrington Construction and Laurentian University. Gord will be remembered as a quiet and selfless man devoted to his love of faith, family, and friends. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, and curling, and was a lifelong member of both the Copper Cliff Italian Club and Associazione Reginale Marchigiana Di Sudbury. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Pioneer Manor, with special thanks to the caregivers of Cranberry Place for their exceptional care and devotion. A private funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Street, Sudbury on Tuesday, January 26th, 2021 at 10:30am with entombment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum. In Giordano’s memory, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society (Sudbury Chapter). Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
