I was privileged to have Phyllis as my mother in law for the last 37 years. She was unfailingly warm, kind, generous, loving and supportive. I will miss her greatly. Requiem æternam dona ei, Domine et lux perpetua luceat ei: Requiescat in pace. Amen.

Phyllis was an amazing human being, an excellent example and role model of a fine Christian woman.
With all the challenges that life presented to her she persevered and did very kind and good things for others.
She will forever be remembered by me as... Mom's very good friend, a lovely and kind person who thought of others. A lovely person to have a cup of tea with.
Admittedly one of my favourite memories was her dropping off boxes of hand me downs from her girls for Marilyn and I, that was like Christmas for someone from a big family.
Rest in peace Phyllis xo

Mrs McNichol was without a doubt the teacher who had the most significant impact in my life. As a former pupil at Holy Redeemer to read of her passing feels like losing not only an important chapter in our school history , but the best chapter. She was Compassionate, patient, kind, firm but fair, dedicated, giving more than what the job demanded, and involved in her students lives in a healthy and nourishing way.Teaching was her true vocation, not a job.
I remember little gifts she would give out to the class at xmas, though as an adult I suspect in hindsight they were given to all so as not to single out those less fortunate. That was the kindness she lived by. She was a mentor as we grew out of her grade and she stayed in touch with her “kids” over the years. I cannot imagine how many graduations she attended! She came to my wedding and celebrated the birth of my kids. As adults she would encourage us to call her Phyllis. Out of respect she stayed Mrs McNichol . She set the bar for educators everywhere.
Deepest condolences to her children and extended family, but also appreciation for your kindness in sharing her with so many of us. She made our world better.
